Wednesday 4th April saw Maiden Newton runners gathering at the Talbot Inn, Benville for the third in what will hopefully be an ongoing series of organised pub runs. Unlike previous outings, not only was it light, but it was also a beautiful evening, and consequently there was a good turn out - we almost made double figures (well if you count Harvey the dog, then there were 10 of us!) We would have attracted some Yeovil runners if we hadn't managed to set the date for the same night as their monthly committee meeting (must avoid first Wednesday of the month in future!)
Martin and I had planned a scenic cross country route and at least this was one area where we weren't going to get lost. The 12 months that we recently spent living in Corscombe gave us ample opportunity to explore this beautiful section of countryside, and it was great to have an opportunity to revisit it.
After a 6 mile run we all repaired to the pub with hearty appetites and enjoyed the varied menu and cheap beer (£2 a pint - amazing!). There was discussion about the next outing and we nominated Phil to plan the route as it will be on his home ground - starting at the New Inn in Cerne Abbas, date to be decided at the April meeting.
